Treasure Hunt!
The 795 juniors had their day out today, hunting for treasure in the woods of Kilbranish. Santa’s instructions were to follow the candlelit trail and pick up treasure on the way. And treasure they found! Candy cane sticks, and at the end the greatest treasure of all – reindeer dust! Spirits were high and there were even a few festive tunes along the way.
The adults found some treasure too – most notably Barry’s mulled wine (secret recipe apparently). The smoke in the shed couldn’t even dampen the spirits. Thanks to Siobhán, Joy and Lorraine for a great afternoon.

Barry Byrne, Club Champion 2009
Congratulations to Barry Byrne who was last night crowned Club Champion. The club championship rewards the person who best exemplifies the club’s core values of participation and improvement in our sports.
Throughout 2009 Barry participated in no less than nine events, improving all the way through sheer determination and effort.
The challenge is out there for next year folks. As Barry said in his closing remarks, “Come and get it!”

MTB Skills Training – 28th November 2009
Attack position. One finger braking. Trackstands. Bunny hops. Just some of the skills learned (and re-learned!) at our MTB training day with two of Ireland’s finest, Niall Davis and Tarja Owens of biking.ie
There were 15 trainees ranging from zero to several years’ MTB experience. It is a great testament to Niall and Tarja’s abilities that we all learned loads. Everyone said more or less the same thing afterwards – “Can’t wait to get back out there and practise!”
Thanks, on behalf of everyone, to David Furlong who organised the day. I have a feeling your fireplace will become legendary!
