K Cap Cup, Bunclody, 7th April 2019
Racing795 hosted Round 2 of the exciting K Cap Cup cross country mountain bike series in Deerpark Old near Bunclody on Sunday. Round 1 was held in Belmont Demesne, Round 3 will take place in Djouce next Sunday, 14th April. Sign up here.
There were races for all ages from under 6, all the way up to over 60s. Top honours went to Klaudia Bajolek in the senior ladies race, with Robin Seymour taking win for the senior men.
Racing795 had some success on home ground. Lorraine Byrne came second in the ladies race while Ross Moorhead and David Conway were first and third in the men’s B race. David Furlong and Jamie Conway also placed well.
Junior racers Jamie Conway and Isobel Furlong both won in their age categories, and Orla Conway was second in her race.

Event Info

Racing795 has a thrilling course lined up for 7th April, with some testing climbs and classic singletrack. The lap is approximately 7km. “A” riders will do 3 laps while the “Bs” will do 2 laps. Preliminary timings suggest that race duration will be similar to Belmont, i.e. in the ballpark of 1hr 30mins for most riders.

Course profile

Directions from Dublin to Round 2
Follow the M7/M9 from Red Cow out of Dublin. Where the M7 and M9 diverge keep left for the M9, signposted Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny. Next take Junction 5 off the M9, keeping left to head for Bunclody. You are now on the N80 for about 20 mins, passing through the village of Ballon. Driving down the hill into Bunclody take the right turn towards Mt Leinster opposite Supervalu. Event location is 5 km out this road at the first Coillte forest entrance. Please follow marshal directions to parking.
